We have a new Management team at Shellingford, Home Farm. Steph Chapman has been appointed as new Nursey Manager since April 2009 and has already implemented many encouraging changes within the Nursery. Steph has recently been successful in securing a large grant in which she plans to utilise the outdoor space. Plans are afoot for a large walk in sandpit and a sensory garden. Please do come along and meet all of us here, where we will happily talk through the Nursery setting. Steph say's. " I thoroughly believe that we have huge potential at our site to make it as encouraging as we can for all children who come to us, the importance of putting the children at the top of our agenda is key to helping them reach their potential and stretch their learning abilities. We have a fantastic team here at the Nursery who are all dedicated to putting the children's enjoyment and care as priority".
All staff are police and health checked to ensure they are eligible to care for and work with children. They are experienced and the majority formally qualified, however we look for more than paper credentials to find the best people for our nurseries. We employ team players with a real empathy and commitment towards the children in their care.
The day to day running of the nursery is the responsibility of the Nursery Manager, supported by a Deputy Manager. A senior member of the Management Team will always be on duty during the opening hours of the nursery. Similarly, there will be a qualified first aid representative on hand at all times should an accident occur. The nursery has four rooms; Babies, Older Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-school. Each room has its own Room Leader, responsible for planning and co-ordinating these areas. These are supported by nursery workers, each of which are assigned as a key worker to your child. They will almost without exception work exclusively in their room to ensure the build up of a bond and create a relationship that is secure and trusted. Your child will move up through the rooms as and when they are ready, this decision is reached jointly between staff and parent/guardians and any move will have a phased approach to minimise disruption.
