What we provide
Our nurseries are planned to offer the perfect emotional, social, physical and educational stability and stimulation for your child.
Positive Steps offer a wide range of modern, educational and play equipment to be explored and enjoyed in an extremely secure environment. Our nurseries are protected by an electronic entry system to make sure that your child is always in the safest of hands.
Learning does not always take place within our nurseries. Our staff work very hard to discover new and stimulating places for children to visit - with parent/guardian's permission, pre-arranged trips are arranged outside of the nurseries with typical outings to local children's farms, library and the theatre.
Positive Steps maintains development records on all children that record their achievements all the way through the nursery. These are assembled using the observations of the staff in your child's base room and covers areas such as Mobility, Co-ordination, Independence, Use of Language and Social Play. The records serve as an essential, continual update for parent/guardian's of their child?s development, enabling children to recognise their own achievements. You will be invited to regular Parent's Evenings to discuss these development records and indeed anything else, with your child's key worker.
The Many Benefits of a Nursery Education
- Nurseries provide continuity and stability for your child. Nurseries don't become ill, go on holiday or hand in their notice. Sometimes if a child becomes attached to a nanny and that person leaves it can be a traumatic experience for the child.
- The Nursery Environment compliments, rather than replaces your role as a parent. Some parents feel emotional conflict if their child becomes devoted to a nanny to the exclusion of themselves.
- Interacting with a group in the early years helps with the development of language skills and develops children's social skills. They learn to be aware of each others needs, to share and to make friends.
- Many studies suggest that there are long term benefits to nursery education; that children do better in terms of social development and educational achievement and in the acquisition of reading, writing and numerical skills.
- In addition to the long term benefits, your child's early years in a nursery will be happy, exciting and fun. We believe a nursery education is the most Positive Step you can take to giving your child the best start.
